My Individualized Studies Major; Corporate Education is comprised of several different areas of study. The subjects that I concentrated on the most were childhood education, psychology, business, and languages. I first was a childhood education major, but when the pandemic hit, I was happy and or confident in which the education field was headed. At this same time, I was working for a company called Wegmans. I was given the opportunity to apply for a Store Operations Management Internship. In which I would learn more about the operations of a Fortune Top 100 Company. While working for Wegmans I have been able to continue my passion for teaching and helping others.
One of the most critical themes that were emphasized in my education courses is that everyone learns differently and at their own pace. There are many training types and styles. Which knowing, this inspired me to continue this belief and or philosophy into my potential career at Wegmans.
After working at Wegmans for a period of time. I became very intrigued with the Financials and the actual business aspect of the operations of the company. This is then why I then switched my major to Business Administration.
After being both a Childhood Education and Business Administration Major, I didn’t want to be so limited with one or the other. I wanted to culminate both of these areas into something that was more beneficial than just having one area or the other. This is where I created the major Corporate Education.
Corporate Education is unique in that it will allow to me help nurture and create a positive learning environment in the corporate setting. while will also allow to me know how a business operates, and how to understand the numbers and the financials that go into running a business and or company. Being a Childhood Education Major limits me to only a few career opportunities, along with Business Administration. Being a Corporate Education major is unique. This can be used in many job settings. The focus would also be on the training and the teaching of the individual.
The questions that I hope to have a better understanding of are as follows:
- What are the major roadblocks and opportunities in providing employee education in a large company environment?
- How can corporations be able to serve(change specificity) our customers and employees better (change)?
- What measures can employees take to better themselves ?
