As an ISM student, I have combined 2 areas of study to try and highlight the importance of both of those areas. These two areas of study are Business Administration and Childhood Education classes. I have become inspired by these two areas of study due to my future/current career path. I work for a Fortune Top 100 company called Wegmans.
I transferrred to SUNY Geneseo from Finger Lakes Communuty College. When I had transferred, I had only ever imagined being a teacher. That was always a plan of mine. The semester before I started attending FLCC I was given the oppurtunity to work at Wegmans as a customer service associate. I then started attending FLCC in which I received an Associates Degree in Childhood Education in their Childhood Education transfer program. I then transferred to SUNY Genseo continuing on with the childhood education path.
I was really enoying the professors and the program at Geneseo before COVID hit. Once COVID hit and seeing how it effected local schools and the education field in general, it really made me come to hault in regards to thinking about if I want to continue on and become a teacher. While simultaneously working at Wegmans and attending Geneseo remotely, I was presented with the oppurtunity to continue to develop myself within the company and apply for a Store Operations Management Internship. I then had switched to being a Business Administration major in order to become more knowledgable in how a Business is run and the financial stand point of it.
After being a Business Administration major and completing the Management Internship I determined what my true passion is. I enjoy helping, developing, and training people with a focus revolving around the business/corporate setting. I came to the determination that being Childhood Education or Business Administration would not be as beneficial as being both and or combining the two disciplines together. Which is why I created this ISM.
